This artwork is about the haunting feeling you might get from the stare of a crow. I am fascinated by crows and have a very large crow roost in my hometown. Crows are not actually frightening at all and instead have been given a bad rap from the movie industry. They do carry a bit of mystery on their wings when found among the gravestones. The painting was done on a pyrole red ground and built up in layers of value and pattern. I enjoy finding the character of the bird and the color that hides in the jet black feathers. This is all created on paper mounted to an 8" square cradled board. The work comes varnished for UV protection. The sides are painted and it comes ready to hang, but would also look stunning in a floating frame. The artwork can also be hung as a series of 3 or more to create a visual impact in your home.
